ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a critical part of our Foundation Engineering team whose mission is to empower our entire engineering organization to release and operate software effectively with confidence. This team is focused on increasing our operational maturity while simplifying our operational footprint. We do this by providing tooling for reliability (eg. observability platforms, libraries), making data and metrics accessible and actionable, scaling our systems, and improving our continuous delivery infrastructure.Global-e’s infrastructure today runs 100% on AWS and is deployed in Kubernetes. Our platform is built as an event driven microservices architecture with Scala backends, using API-first software development, and continuously delivered.

This position will report to the Senior Engineering Manager leading the foundation team and will be based in our Dublin office.

You Will:

Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure tools and products used by all of our product engineering teams
Develop tools and champion best practices to empower all our teams to continue to improve the reliability of their services and products
Operate a modern cloud-based, event driven microservice architecture written in Scala and Play Framework and built on Docker
Build on top of cloud-based tools including Datadog, Kubernetes and AWS

Requirements

You Are:

Curious and enthusiastic for tackling tough problems and delivering solutions
An author of clean, well-tested, and maintainable code
Excited to operate systems in production in an environment of continuous improvement
Curious about data and eager to gain insight from the information our systems produce
Always learning and hungry for new knowledge and skill sharing
Eager to work in small teams with people that appreciate beautiful code and unique insights
Familiar with functional programming and a desire to learn Scala

You Have:

5+ years of experience building highly scalable consumer-facing applications
Proven experience across the Software Development Life cycle
Interested and comfortable working with data
Experience with Agile, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment
Understanding of cloud architectures and experience with AWS infrastructure
Interest and knowledge of cloud technologies and tooling
